This is a compilation of all the events that I can remember occurred in the year 2011! Many disasters came to pass, unfortunately, and it has been a very unusual and chaotic year. This video gets a little political here and there, but they have to do with what has happened in 2011. I also included 2011 Space News and Good News about how Real People Paid It Forward, as well! People spread Christmas cheer with their wonderful decorations! I made this video last year as I went around my local town, recording the Christmas lights. I truly believe that Christmas should be more about spreading joy like this rather than how many presents one can give or receive!
Well, we all know the story of the first Thanksgiving, but here’s a quick review. Because the Pilgrims were new in the land, the Native Americans (the Wampanoag Indians) taught them how to grow and hunt for food. They learned how to grow crops like wheat, corn, fruits, & some vegetables. The Indians also taught them how to hunt for fowl and deer. A Native Americans tradition was to celebrate the harvest of their crops. The Pilgrims also had their own way of giving thanks during harvest from what they previously knew from the Bible (Deuteronomy) and probably from the harvest celebrations that occurred when about 100 of them settled in Leiden about ten years before. So, in 1621, a harvest festival was celebrated by everyone to thank God for providing them with good food and friends. That’s why we have Thanksgiving today!
Today, Thanksgiving is also about being grateful for our blessings, our loved ones, our friends, the roof over our heads, the food on our tables, and all that we are blessed with that we sometimes take for granted, whether they be big or small.
