Leech-Like Loved Ones

I apologize that this is not my usual type of post, but this is becoming a common occurrence among the elderly! Money and estates that they have worked hard for most of their lives are stolen from them from their own family and trusted friends! This is an outrage! Anyone who has ripped away from their elderly family should not be considered family at all. They are leeches! GOSSIP~How easy it is to be a part of it? It is a very difficult act to refuse. It’s considered “peer pressure” amongst adults~Not just for women, men too!
How many times in your life have you encountered a scenario where two or more people are talking about another person in a negative way? Part of you really wants to hear what’s being said, but that “little voice” inside you says, “Walk away from this!” However, have you realized that more than likely, you too, will be a subject of one of these conversations? It seems no one is exempt.
I have to admit that I’ve been a participant, as well. It’s almost too easy to become a participant in a “gossip” conversation. On the other hand, we can make a choice…..we can walk away from the conversation, as difficult as it may be. There’s too much else going on in the world than to worry about what “Mary” did! Don’t you think? Are YOU a participant? Don’t we all have better things to do?
It’s one thing to talk to a friend and vent your frustrations in order to solve a problem, but if it’s gossip, will it ever solve anything? Simple answer: NO.
Walk away or change the conversation. You will feel better about yourself.

2011~A Most Unusual Year

This video gets a little political here and there, but they have to do with what has happened in 2011. I also included 2011 Space News and Good News about how Real People Paid It Forward, as well! Christmas is in the Air!

People spread Christmas cheer with their wonderful decorations! I made this video last year as I went around my local town, recording the Christmas lights. I truly believe that Christmas should be more about spreading joy like this rather than how many presents one can give or receive!

What is Thanksgiving?

Well, we all know the story of the first Thanksgiving, but here’s a quick review. Because the Pilgrims were new in the land, the Native Americans (the Wampanoag Indians) taught them how to grow and hunt for food. They learned how to grow crops like wheat, corn, fruits, & some vegetables. The Indians also taught them how to hunt for fowl and deer. A Native Americans tradition was to celebrate the harvest of their crops. The Pilgrims also had their own way of giving thanks during harvest from what they previously knew from the Bible (Deuteronomy) and probably from the harvest celebrations that occurred when about 100 of them settled in Leiden about ten years before. So, in 1621, a harvest festival was celebrated by everyone to thank God for providing them with good food and friends. That’s why we have Thanksgiving today!

Today, Thanksgiving is also about being grateful for our blessings, our loved ones, our friends, the roof over our heads, the food on our tables, and all that we are blessed with that we sometimes take for granted, whether they be big or small.
